In the past I have had you tell me why your family is not boring. This time I wanted to mix it up a little in and effort to alleviate redundancy. Cause well….it’s boring doing the same thing over and over.   This year I want to know all about how you fell in love with your significant other.  That means this contest is open to ALL couples and families.  Kids or no kids.  Engaged.  Married. Life partners.  Whatever.   You just have to be head over heals in love.

I am not stopping at just a free session this year.  I am giving away the farm. If I could have anything in the world right now, it’d be falling into your arms and crying until what feels like an ocean of pain and concern fades away. Not only has this week brought us to new obstacles in our marriage, rehashed painful memories of the past, I also had to rescue our puppy who was crying out for his life, trapped in the car today. I thank God for the Belmont Shores Veterinary Clinic being next door, and for their immediate help. According to the x-rays, nothing has been broken. Circulation was cut off for a significant amount of time, and the bruising is fairly ugly. Titan has taken his first rounds of medication, and was able to eat a portion of his late breakfast. He has no longer been crying, just an occasional whimper. Five pounds of fur could never break my heart more. Now he is sleeping on our pillow; his right hind leg still swollen and badly bruised- praying for his full recovery. In moments like these, I am reminded how strong I am capable of being. Even so, my heart aches, and Proverbs 13:12 proves itself true, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.” The moment I see you next, everything I lack will again be complete. While you are working 24-hours around the clock to preserve peace of mind for myself and others, I will do my best to serve, honor and love you, even 7,000 miles apart. I gain strength in knowing we are simply traveling through a season, and that this too shall pass.

So five days a week I was always about 20 feet away from Julena at any given time unless we were roaming the warehouse doing quality control. Good times. She would sneak in episodes of Grey’s Anatomy online during self appointed breaks while I would bust out some Galaga and Ms. Pac Man in the client lounge. We rode in the company limo together and awkwardly sang happy birthday half a dozen times with our co-workers. We had authentic family style fiestas in the warehouse on occasion with the printing and fulfillment crew and rolled into Monday morning meetings not very pleased that the weekend was over. We were friends. We knew we wouldn’t be there forever. We were family, in our own little crazy co-worker world for a short period of time. She eventually moved across the country with her then boyfriend, now husband, and this little guy is the newest addition to the party.

Little D is four months old and was such a good little sport. As photographers we fear this age. They are a little floppy still and usually not sitting. The odds are not in our favor but, they were here on vacation so I didn’t even try to talk her in to waiting until he was sitting. Not going to sugar coat here…. I was a little nervous but couldn’t be been more pleased by the outcome.

I leave you with a few quick snaps of my best pal Donna with her twins Ian and Libby… and little Miss Adrienne who will be making her grand entrance sometime in June.

Proof: I met Lance, CFO of Orb Elements, at the avocado festival here in Fallbrook last Sunday and after talking with him for about 3 minutes I was sold. You should have a few of THESE on hand for day to day use and/or in your emergency kit. They are good for about 1000 gallons of fresh water with a replaceable filter. His team sent a bunch of fresh water relief to Haiti and they are now working with world and local governments to spread the word. We are talking major major impact here people. I don’t know about you but finding myself somewhere fresh water is unavailable is a frightening thought. Call me paranoid but there was a 7.2 earthquake less than a 2 hours drive from me a couple of weeks ago. Water is the most basic of human needs and if it doesn’t scare you….it should. 3 days without and you are as good as dead.

So, I waltzed off water bottle in hand and to test it out I filled it up with gas station water. Ya know…from the hose where the air is. YUM! It was an awesome dingy yellow color and I am sure it was pretty foul. It came out clear and tasted better than most bottled water I have had. Impressive! We are so used to having clean drinking water readily available at any given moment the sheer thought of having to drink tainted water is unfathomable. The truth is…it can happen…to any of us…at any time.

Changing gears….because we all need something visual….This video makes my heart swell at the thought of having the ability and the freedom to grow our own food. My heart stops at the thought of what might happen if food is unable to be trucked in from far off places. Get a little closer to nature and plant some food. Visit your local gardening center and get started. It’s time.

I just want to say again how well made these little dresses are and how much the kids really loved them. Buy two cause it will be the outfit that your kid refuses to take off all summer. Ya. That one. At least they are super cute. The reversible factor on the pinafore dresses is genius and was stoked that they were not NOT bulky at all. Bonus….Dirty on one side? NO PROBLEM! Flip it inside out! Ha!

Thanks for playing and here are the rest of our sweet little models.

We always wanted the same jersey number.  This was serious business.  I don’t remember ever fighting over it  so we must have liked each other enough to trade off  through out the years. We went to the  CA State soccer championships when we were 17 and lost in the finals together. In double overtime.  Oh the pain and disappointment. Not even a Capri Sun made us feel better.

Jennie and I were kids together.  We had sleep overs, forts in the bushes, traveled through the desert together, embarked on Oregon Trail expeditions on her computer and I fell in love with her giant golden named Scott.  I also remember her dad bootlegging importing Dr. Pepper from Texas circa 1985.  Imagine my surprise and excitement when it became a nationwide elixir!  Cheers!

So 14 years of life happens,  Jennie graduates college,  gets married and they have this super cute kid.  Then my phone rang. Love it!

Little JD was only 10 months old when I first photographed him in 2007 and he’s 3 now!  I am so happy to call them my first clients ever!

He’s such a dashing young lad isn’t he?
