I have been dying to get some images up for this mama. It was a fun and wild 45 minute session with a funny little ham and her quiet deep thinking slightly older sister. Aren’t they pretty?

Sweet beautiful Eliana. I called her Elaina for 2/3rds of the session until she corrected me so sweetly and I felt like a jerk. We had so much fun I had a hard time choosing what to post.

I always loved the open fields and the kids running though the tall grass, on Little House on the Prairie. It makes me happy that landscapes like that are all around here. I love where I live.

I photographed Mr. Logan when he was a newborn and Taylor was about 4 years old. They really do change so much over the course of a year. It’s fun to see the change on my end as well.

When people from a past life become your clients it makes you take note of where you have been and how much your lives have changed. I met Miss Julena at my first job out of college and out of the restaurant industry. That was 5 years ago now. I sold direct mail printing to medium sized businesses as well as giant corporations and she handled the marketing and helped everyone with a little bit of everything.

So five days a week I was always about 20 feet away from Julena at any given time unless we were roaming the warehouse doing quality control. Good times. She would sneak in episodes of Grey’s Anatomy online during self appointed breaks while I would bust out some Galaga and Ms. Pac Man in the client lounge. We rode in the company limo together and awkwardly sang happy birthday half a dozen times with our co-workers. We had authentic family style fiestas in the warehouse on occasion with the printing and fulfillment crew and rolled into Monday morning meetings not very pleased that the weekend was over. We were friends. We knew we wouldn’t be there forever. We were family, in our own little crazy co-worker world for a short period of time. She eventually moved across the country with her then boyfriend, now husband, and this little guy is the newest addition to the party.

Little D is four months old and was such a good little sport. As photographers we fear this age. They are a little floppy still and usually not sitting. The odds are not in our favor but, they were here on vacation so I didn’t even try to talk her in to waiting until he was sitting. Not going to sugar coat here…. I was a little nervous but couldn’t be been more pleased by the outcome.

It always makes me so happy inside when husbands give the gift of photography to their wives on their birthday. Not sure it gets any sweeter than that.

This mama and I go way back to the soccer fields of our youth. I think it’s been 15 years since I have seen her and she hasn’t aged a bit. She was always friendly to all, super smart, and fast as lightning on the soccer field. Apparently the friendly smart gene gets passed to your children . Samantha was such a good little girlie for us and it’s not to often that you run across a two year old that can hold full blown conversations and follow instructions. Little miss Samantha is smart as a tack and sure to run circles around her peers just like her mama did when we were kids. In the same instance she is still very much her age and all kinds of adorable. It was such a pleasure spending time with the family.

Happy Birthday Laura! I hope you enjoy this little glimpse of your birthday gift coming to life.

A good ole’ Anaheim Hills, CA native was in town for the Easter holiday and decided to come visit me in Fallbrook for a little afternoon shoot with her girlies. Truly loving this. The more I work with families from my home town nestled in North Orange County the more I realize that the community remains close knit even though it has been swallowed up by suburban sprawl. As I do what I do I am pleasantly forced to recount my youth and the people that I was surrounded by. I find that I really quite enjoy it. Can’t get over that so many people I grew up with are doing amazing things with their lives. Ya know… little things like working for the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention Global AIDS Program. It makes my heart happy that in the house today, I love how dorky this sounds, I have Canyon High School’s – 1994 ASB Class President, Miss Angeli and her beautiful 2 year old twin girlies. She’s just as I remember her… happy, gorgeous, mellow, authentic and the best kind of dorky.

After spending some time with her I was left feeling like I wished we were closer back then and I should have hung out in the student body lounge once in a while. Maybe I would have gotten where I am now a little faster…or at least taken the SAT. What? OK. My high school senior way of thinking was if my super smart, mild mannered, 3.5GPA varsity soccer playing older sister went to community college I was probably headed the same direction. So, I just took a lot of photography classes and ROP – Careers with Children to get off campus earlier. Ya know, preparing for my future!

Funny how that works huh?

Spring in Orange County | Children’s Portrait Photograher

Seriously I can’t get over how much I am loving this weather. I always have said the fall was my favorite time of year but this year I find my self wanting this whole green grass thing to stick around forever. We had a good time romping around the outskirts of a crowded Orange County park. Beautiful light and a beautiful family makes for a splendid afternoon.

My How You’ve Grown | North County San Diego Child Photographer

I was so happy to get to spend some time with this little family again. I have known mama quite some time now. Dare I even say over 20 years! It all started around the ripe old age of 8 or 9 and we were on The Canyon Angels together. Yes, I am traumatized by my soccer team names growing up. I mean seriously. I feel the sudden urge to list them but I won’t. I am surprised I played as long as I did.

We always wanted the same jersey number. This was serious business. I don’t remember ever fighting over it so we must have liked each other enough to trade off through out the years. We went to the CA State soccer championships when we were 17 and lost in the finals together. In double overtime. Oh the pain and disappointment. Not even a Capri Sun made us feel better.

Jennie and I were kids together. We had sleep overs, forts in the bushes, traveled through the desert together, embarked on Oregon Trail expeditions on her computer and I fell in love with her giant golden named Scott. I also remember her dad bootlegging importing Dr. Pepper from Texas circa 1985. Imagine my surprise and excitement when it became a nationwide elixir! Cheers!

So 14 years of life happens, Jennie graduates college, gets married and they have this super cute kid. Then my phone rang. Love it!

Little JD was only 10 months old when I first photographed him in 2007 and he’s 3 now! I am so happy to call them my first clients ever!

He’s such a dashing young lad isn’t he?

Interestingly grandpa lives literally 100 yards from my house. I was invited to stay for a super fantastic brunch and snapped these cute lifestyle shots while we hung out and then walked home. Pretty cool.
