When people from a past life become your clients it makes you take note of where you have been and how much your lives have changed. I met Miss Julena at my first job out of college and out of the restaurant industry. That was 5 years ago now. I sold direct mail printing to medium sized businesses as well as giant corporations and she handled the marketing and helped everyone with a little bit of everything.

So five days a week I was always about 20 feet away from Julena at any given time unless we were roaming the warehouse doing quality control. Good times. She would sneak in episodes of Grey’s Anatomy online during self appointed breaks while I would bust out some Galaga and Ms. Pac Man in the client lounge. We rode in the company limo together and awkwardly sang happy birthday half a dozen times with our co-workers. We had authentic family style fiestas in the warehouse on occasion with the printing and fulfillment crew and rolled into Monday morning meetings not very pleased that the weekend was over. We were friends. We knew we wouldn’t be there forever. We were family, in our own little crazy co-worker world for a short period of time. She eventually moved across the country with her then boyfriend, now husband, and this little guy is the newest addition to the party.

Little D is four months old and was such a good little sport. As photographers we fear this age. They are a little floppy still and usually not sitting. The odds are not in our favor but, they were here on vacation so I didn’t even try to talk her in to waiting until he was sitting. Not going to sugar coat here…. I was a little nervous but couldn’t be been more pleased by the outcome.

A good ole’ Anaheim Hills, CA native was in town for the Easter holiday and decided to come visit me in Fallbrook for a little afternoon shoot with her girlies. Truly loving this. The more I work with families from my home town nestled in North Orange County the more I realize that the community remains close knit even though it has been swallowed up by suburban sprawl. As I do what I do I am pleasantly forced to recount my youth and the people that I was surrounded by. I find that I really quite enjoy it. Can’t get over that so many people I grew up with are doing amazing things with their lives. Ya know… little things like working for the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention Global AIDS Program. It makes my heart happy that in the house today, I love how dorky this sounds, I have Canyon High School’s – 1994 ASB Class President, Miss Angeli and her beautiful 2 year old twin girlies. She’s just as I remember her… happy, gorgeous, mellow, authentic and the best kind of dorky.

After spending some time with her I was left feeling like I wished we were closer back then and I should have hung out in the student body lounge once in a while. Maybe I would have gotten where I am now a little faster…or at least taken the SAT. What? OK. My high school senior way of thinking was if my super smart, mild mannered, 3.5GPA varsity soccer playing older sister went to community college I was probably headed the same direction. So, I just took a lot of photography classes and ROP – Careers with Children to get off campus earlier. Ya know, preparing for my future!

Funny how that works huh?

We are enjoying an early spring here in Southern California. Hopefully with the amount of rain the flowers will really be going off here pretty soon. If you want a spring session get on the horn. I have a spot or two left available for April and May is getting pretty booked as well. I can’t believe it’s almost April! They grow so fast and time is just ticking away. Sigh.

I have a bunch of sweet shots that I am editing as I type this. I especially love these two.

It’s all Love | San Francisco Newborn Photographer

Needless to say I was excited when Steve contacted me to inquire if I was available to travel to San Francisco to photo his sweet new baby girl. Of course! I love San Francisco. So much in fact I regret that I failed to purchase an I heart SF coffee mug….because I am that cheesy in love with the city. It was such a pleasure making the trip up there and taking a few days after this session to unwind with friends and family in the area. More photos on that coming soon.

Congratulations on your sweet baby Sabine. She is such a cuddly little babe.

She’s arrived and it’s plain to see ma and pa are smitten. I especially love the daddy shot because it was that last spontaneous shot when you are cleaning up your gear sneaky shot. I love those. Oh, and the blanket was made by a friend. Where can I place my order for one of those…or four? Just beautiful, stretchy and soft. Love that too.

I wish I have more time to talk but I still have too much to do considering I am leaving bright and early in the morn for San Fransico. eeeep. It’s been too long! I can’t wait.

This beautiful mama had her sweet baby boy. He was a tiny little guy weighing in at 6 pounds and 7 ounces if I recall… He was about two and half weeks old before I was able to meet him and thankfully was very good to me. A little on the touchy side but as you can see he slept. Thank you Cooper! Such a beautiful boy. Welcome to the world little man.

I love all of these shots and I had several others that I wanted to post. Pops is a chef over at Estancia I am hoping to get over there soon. Mama gives new meaning to what it means to be a trooper. With a cast on her arm and leg and several surgeries behind her she is still glowing and beautiful. I have no idea how she does it with a 10 month old and a two year old show stopper. Only a solid family could pull that off. Cheers to that!

I love this family. I have photographed this family 4 times now. It’s neat to watch Malia and Soraya grow. It all started when Malia was 10 months old and she is a smart 2 almost 3 year old cookie these days. We played and she followed directions with the help of some “birdy treats” I brought along with me. Nothing like a sugar bribe. Dad and I are working on a special project I hope to unveil soon. There is a lot brewing over here. It’s exciting!! Stay tuned!

Woo hoo! Another set of twins. These two were such happy sweet babies. I was super stoked to stumble across so much green for this session. I have been here several times before and I should have known to direct my uber talented friend Dina Marie here when she emailed me asking…”I need something woodsy and green….pronto!” I think I found it Dina. Just a day to late. Oiy. Sorry chica. To me location is key and I am always trying to find new hidden gems…and sometimes the new gold nuggets are found in the places you go often. So, I found a new little spot in a old spot and the green was a welcomed surprise. It doesn’t take much to make me happy.

I would love to gift these two a 5×7. 30+ Comments from friends and family ought to do the trick. Let em roll…

The little dude rolled over and tumbled out of the basket and landed in the grass just like this. We rolled with it and he thought it was pretty funny… Those teeth…too cute.

The light was just sweet here not to post. I can imagine it takes a lot of love and patience to raise twins. Double trouble and all…these two seem to be doing just fine.

I love love LOVE photographing people I know. I always get the most nervous. No pressure right? Papa and I went to high school together, hung out in the same group of friends and I believe we even had a couple photo classes together. I have not had a chance to edit much of this session but I always have to go through them shortly after I shoot just to calm all of my fears of my “I didn’t get anything” syndrome that many of us suffer from. This is a super tiny sneak peak and hopefully I can add one or two more before your gallery goes up. She was so good! Not one single tear.
