It’s funny the things that stick with you. I am a little embarrassed to admit this but I used to sit in the back of my English class my senior year of high school and draw pictures for my friends. It was more interesting to me than reading and discussing Lord of the Flies, Shakespeare or effective writing skills. Yes, I should have paid more attention. Kids were stressed about SATs and I was bummed my red marker was drying out. My parents must have been so proud! What can I say I was hooked… I had the big fat pack of pentel markers accompanied by an aray of sharpies and I would go to town daily. Ya know…all your basic suedo hippy kids stuff to include Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd song lyrics, mushrooms, flowers, rainbows, fish, snails and other creatures. If I hadn’t graduated college with a 3.5 GPA I probably would never admit to all of this. Surprisingly I never got in trouble much. Talking. Yes. Drawing. No. In fact I can say my markers never once got confiscated. I think my teachers were just glad I wasn’t gabbing it up. I did my homework and went to class most of the time. I guess you could say this is when I really became interested in being an artist. During that same time I was also taking photo classes. The years passed and photography fell to the way side and I continued to have my nose in sketch books and began to paint. I had art school on.the.brain. and it never ceased. My best friend and I used to talk and talk and TALK about having a greeting card and calendar company. Pipe dreams? Maybe. I figure I am long overdue to put myself out there and with this super fantastic thing we call the internet and Etsy makes it all possible. I figure if anything it may buy Shryner’s food every month and maybe a bone!
Feeling naked here…. I am giving one or two of my creations away. Your Choice!
Leave me a comment and I will use the random number generator to pick a winner! This contest will go until February 28th. Only comments on the blog will be included.
